the radiator is being checked out right now ,but i would like to know where is the thermostat and if thats it on the side of the motor closer to the firewall with alot of hoses entering it. the bolts that hold it on are very hard to get to.
We both had HRV's but will never do that again due to the auto gearbox is a problem after 230,000 km and anything goes wronmg , you have to have a $7000 computer to tell you whats wrong, or search all day looking for a problem

try going to majestichonda.com  their parts catalog shows the picture of the thermostat and may help you locate it on your crv.

On your tight bolts/nuts,  apply some liquid wrench, wd40,some type of penetrant release for tight bolts/nuts and let it penetrate,  put a socket or wrench on it, and tap the head or the bolt/nut-shaft with a light hammer,  while turning, tapping the bolt/nut usually will come loose.  Don't push so hard to break the bolt/nut-shaft.

I DOWN LOADED A CRV SERVICE MANUAL
And found the thermostat
now i need to workout how to get those 2 bolts off.
You say they can come off with sockets???????
is this right?
one i can see from looking from the top of the motor and the other is out of sight under one of the rubber hoses, think I will have to remove that hose first.

a socket or wrench, which ever is easier to get access to.  and yes many engine parts are in a tight area and other componets may need to be removed to get to what is broken.  becareful when removing the tight bolt ro nut.  tap gently and apply pressure after using liquid wrench or similar lube.
