i now got the oil out but how do i get the gear oil in? do i need some special tool for that? someone told me that i need a pump, does that sound right? how much gear oil does it take? any help is appreciated

The Honda marine site ,which you might want to download the owners manual for for specific model number, says it holds 1.04 US quarts and gives you the type of oil. You should be able to squeeze it into the top hole with the srew out. Most containers for this oil have this built into top or use a small funnel. It should just be filled to the level of that hole so you cannot overfill.Hope this helps. The owners manual talks about using a pump to extract the engine oil but it can be gravity removed just as you did the lower unit oil.
