I recently baught a 2008 XR 650L. Have had it about three weeks and have already put 1200mi on it. Thus far only had to change the oil (the 600mi oil looked like metal flake paint) and tighten the chain two clicks. Both were expected and I''m cool with. But a friend of mine (Suzuki owner) tells me that I can expect to have to adjust valve space evey week for the life of the bike.

Now I know Honda has a way solid track record with their engines. That''s why I baught one. So I guess my question is; Is this true and a quirk of the 650 thumpers or is my friend just a Suzuki owner that wishes he had 250 more CCs?

One more thing. Does anyone have any experience with a supermoto conversion on the XR 650L?
